My Leopard Gecko eats a Butterworm

My 9 month old gecko. She sure does love butter worms but they are one of the most exspensive worms. She also loves silkworms, and phoenix worms. I feed them as staples as it’s easier then crickets and less of a hassle. Then like I said, just more money to spend. But all in all it’s worth it.

basicaly, yes. but it is probably best just to feed them crickets. so they don’t get lazy.

No. Superworms have a very thick hard outer shell which can cause impaction…which is deadly…stick to crickets or phoenix worms.

I ment it as a joke. I normally feed him superworms when he’s out of crickets.

impaction is when the stomach gets blocked by something indigestible such as sand gets eaten and clumps together inside the stomach. It isnt caused by hard shells that are hard to digest. as long as it can be digested it is fine.

Who ever said superworms shells cause compaction is retarted, they have enough of an acidic stomach it will digest. But dont do superworms as a diet. But, nice gecko

Superworms (as their sold locally here) are a bit big for Leopards, far as I’ve seen. They HAVE developed leopard gecko food pellets now, but it must take a HELLUVA lot of feed training to get them onto them, what with all the vivication and everything.

  11. rockme145 says:

No the superworms arent, they’re like pinkies only worms, but super worms are more of a treat then anything.

in the end she looks satisfied lol

your gecko is going to have vitamin deficiencies if it’s main diet is worms, since they are very difficult to gut load. gut loaded crickets are the best thing you can feed a gecko. ask your vet.

  14. LeopardGeckoGalore says:

Yes true, but meal worms are another option as they are easy to breed and easy to gut load

dont worry. this is very normal for a baby and he will eat once he gets comfortable to his home. give him at least one week.

  19. futurama516 says:
